Freaks and Geeks: Towel Time

One thing that slow motion is particularly useful for is creating (or dragging out) a certain feeling. Especially if that feeling is one of horrible, horrible anxiety. Skip to the middle part (3:55) for one of the best locker room scenes adolescence can offer.

I love this scene because so often, slow motion is used to illustrate that cool kid-walking-down-the-hall image. You know, where everyone smiles at him as he cocks his gun/thumb in recognition. But not here. With geeky Bill Haverchuk and Neil Sweiburg getting whipped by linens, their un-coolness is painfully documented in a play-by-play of how to never remember high school. Ever.
