These ads must have cost like $300 each. That’s insane. That’s amazing. That’s what commercials should be: good gimmicks, less bullshit. Plus this imagery will stay in my head all day.

I fucking hate Rob Thomas. But I love this commercial.

Apparently this commercial is a collection of Rob Thomas references. 54, in fact. Can you spot them all? Do you even care?

All I know is that it looks pretty sweet….until :22, when you realize its for Rob Thomas.

This just makes me really, really, want to eat some runts. And live in a quaint European Village. Sigh. Plus, who doesn’t love the Jose Gonzalez track?! Show me and I’ll show you a deaf, heartless person.

Slow motion water…Again.

Honestly, I think water is the easiest slow motion device out there. But it tricks me, every time! The idea to use water instead of double dutch ropes is just too cool, and the production value pays off a million times over.

Dear Schweppes: Good job. Slow motion is mega cheap. All the budget just goes to the camera, and then things as simple as dropping a water balloon look INCREDIBLE. Paired with shitty, emotional music and you’ve got yourself a winning campaign. Observe:


Right? Right? Who knew balloons could make one so emotional…but that’s the power of slow-motion, my friends! With great power comes great responsibility, and Schweppes seems to have exploited these frames for all their worth. And I’m totally OK with that.

Alright, so these aren’t exactly pure examples of slow motion, but when contrasted with the spastic speeds within, the slow motion arguably looks even better:

I am a big fan of the choice of wardrobe for the girl with the yellow dress. It’s an awesome way to show the speed changes through costume, and make everything look more fluid in general. Here’s the second version for the same commercial:

Not as good, I don’t think. Maybe that’s cos there isn’t enough sweet slowness.

Makes you wonder where Architecture in Helsinki got their idea for Hold Music, no?

This video is kind of like the one of people getting punched , only with a purpose. I love the whole concept of a car crash without the car- an out-of-context situation that emphasizes the gravity (hah!) of an accident. It’s gorgeous, powerful, and ultimately, sells the product well. My favorite part is where the librarian just flies out of her chair. Definitely a great ad campaign.

I’m not really sure what the fuck has happened here, but whatevs, it looks so, so sweet. Who knew that old people smiling at 60fps could be such a powerful ad campaign? Watch it, and you’ll never be able to paintball the same way again.
