While I thought the movie totally blew, it was pretty incredible vis a vie the slow motion front. Plus, now I get to add “somersaulting off an elephant tusk” to my tag cloud.

These ads must have cost like $300 each. That’s insane. That’s amazing. That’s what commercials should be: good gimmicks, less bullshit. Plus this imagery will stay in my head all day.

Good job, Nike. Way to not suck.

Thanks to random people adding me on twitter, I came across the very awesome Mr. Meeble. With their self-released beats and DIY music videos, it’s hard to not be a fan.

Plus, I could watch this video all day.

Patrick Daughters is a fucking beast.

It’s just so creepy, you’re not quite sure what’s going on. Are their cheeks glowing? Do they look like gay Bavarians? Why is their skin so shiny?

And then they blow their brains out. Thanks for clearing that up, Patrick. Sick. (in a good way.)

There isn’t actually any slow motion in this video whatsoever. But they do interesting things with speed changes in general. And with furniture.

Blind-folded drummers, nose-bleeding lead singers, and guitars coming out of drawers? All such great ideas. I applaud Maximo Park’s ability to make the umndane interesting, as well as their ability to ram speed in a closet. Nice.

Never skimp out on a good editor, my friends.

I’m not even sure if I really like this video. The song is just so catchy, sounding like a sinister arcade from the depths of pop hell. The video’s style just feels inorganic- cutting at inopportune moments and using slow-motion willy-nilly instead of saving those shots for rises in the song.

The worst is when they cut to the long-shots of the “aliens” beating up the band. They’re so sparse and small from that far that it takes you out of the video. When in doubt, always use a close up, fool!

Sorry, Hadouken! Despite your slow motion, this is not well-received.

This is an oldie but a goodie. I mean Madonna, not the video.

I obviously love the parts at the end. Especially the portraiture of her in the pink leotard, hitting every Eisner Point of ocular pleasure…though her grinding on that dope boom box makes me a little nauseous.

The only thing I really hate about this video is how they transition from this amazing photography of Miss Prissy and Madonna on the dance floor to some shitty, real-time DDR sequence. What the fuck? As soon as I see Madonna’s arms go up in that unflattering green shirt, the spell is broken. That’s the problem with slow motion: It’s better than real life.

I fucking hate Rob Thomas. But I love this commercial.

Apparently this commercial is a collection of Rob Thomas references. 54, in fact. Can you spot them all? Do you even care?

All I know is that it looks pretty sweet….until :22, when you realize its for Rob Thomas.
